Below is a letter from a teacher outside of St. Louis, Mo. who wrote a letter to my Principal as a way of letting him know that the time that I took off from school was worth while….

Mr. Laney,         I wanted to write to you to thank you for allowing Mr. Richard Reynolds to come and speak to my public speaking classes Friday, September 14th in St. Louis.  It was a long day for Mr. Reynolds, as he had to speak to my second hour class at 8:15 a.m. and then had to wait until my other two classes, which were not until 12:45!  I appreciate his patience and willingness to speak to my classes.  The kids I have are a little rough around the edges and Mr. Reynolds did a fantastic job keeping them interested–he appealed to them on their level and kept their attention throughout his presentation.  On Monday, I spoke with the students about Mr. Reynolds’ presentation and asked them to discuss the tools he used in order to appeal to their age group.  The students retained most if not all of the information that he had spoken to them about!  I was quite impressed!  They learned a lot from him and will now be able to put that information into action as they begin tackling their more difficult speech presentations in the next few weeks.  His presentation was enjoyable and filled with excellent information for my students of public speaking.  I imagine that his educational background was very helpful to him in knowing just what to say and how to say it in order to reach these dynamic groups of individuals!  Once again, thank you for allowing Mr. Reynolds to travel to St. Louis and present to us!

 Sincerely,

Bonnie Zigler         Public Speaking Teacher, Wildwood & Crestview Middle Schools
